Michael Bourke has managed information systems at two large healthcare chains and at Texas Children’s Hospital. He has extensive expertise in the disciplines needed for the redesign of healthcare processes through information technology, including: IT Strategy, Business Process Redesign, Systems Development, Organizational Assessment and Project Management. He has authored two books on IT strategy and architecture in healthcare. His consulting experience includes work for the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and USAID, with projects in Latin America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. In addition to the healthcare sector, Dr. Bourke has extensive experience in the management and development of information systems for banking, foreign trade, education and manufacturing. He was also Professor of MIS at Houston Baptist University, where he directed several programs related to the management of organizations, personnel and information systems, including the MBA program, the MS in IT Management, MS in Healthcare Management and MS in HRM. He has a BA from Boston College, a PhD in Linguistics from Brown University and an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
